The 6 BEST Things about Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

I love everything Disney and enjoy being able to visit a few times a year. Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World has never been my favorite park. However, it definitely has been growing on me the last few years.

Disney has dome some major improvements through the years with adding the Pixar section and, most recently, the Star Wars area. Now, with the new hotel coming, who knows what else is truly in store for this growing park!

It has been great to watch it grow and I can’t see what all the future has in store! Here are some of my favorite attractions that I can’t miss when I visit Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Here are the 6 BEST Things about Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Star Wars

Disney has done a marvelous and amazing job with Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge! I’m not a huge Star Wars fan. I like the movies, but I’m just not a huge, diehard fan. However, I very much enjoy walking around Galaxy’s Edge and enjoying the theming and details! It does truly feel like you are actually in another world!

In my opinion, Rise of the Resistance is one of the best attractions of all time. I love how immersive it is and the amazing technology used for this attraction! Now, it does have some issues and is often shut down for one reason or another, but it is worth the wait!

Pixar

Pixar is probably my favorite section of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Everything is huge, going along with the theming that makes you part of the story. You are the size of a toy compared to everything around you!

There are three main rides in the Pixar area, Slinky Dog Dash, Alien Swirling Saucers, and Toy Story Mania. Most of the hype is focused on Slinky Dog, but my favorite is Toy Story Mania.

My husband, who is easily motion sick, somehow doesn’t get sick on Toy Story Mania! It’s actually one of his favorite rides in all of Disney World!

Bonus: Just outside of the Pixar section you can find Jack-Jacks’s Num-Num Cookies. I had heard about them but had never tried them until our last trip. They are definitely going to be a regular part of our Disney experience! They are absolutely amazing and they are huge!

The picture above doesn’t give the Num-Num cookie justice. It was the size of my hand and very gooey and yummy! I felt like my three-year-old granddaughter when I ate it because I was covered in chocolate by the time I was done!

Tower of Terror

Tower of Terror is another one of my husband’s favorite rides! This was also one of the first rides I had ever ridden when I went to Disney World. It has great theming and it’s a super fun ride!

Plus, the ride is slightly different each time. The theming and basics of the ride are the same every time, but the drop changes. There is a random drop pattern, so you may go up or go down first and the number of times you drop changes too! It keeps it interesting since you never know what exactly will happen!

Rock ‘n Roller Coaster

Rock ‘n Roller Coaster is one of my favorite rides. It’s an indoor roller coaster that goes upside-down and is super fast! I love steel coasters and fast rides, so this definitely fits both of these favorites in my book!

However, I have a favorite memory that goes along with this ride that makes it even more special for me. When my youngest son was nine he did not like roller coasters. We often when to the local theme park, Holiday World, with him and his siblings. There was a new wooden coaster built there that summer and his siblings continually teased him about wanting to ride it.

So, we made a deal. He would agree to ride Rock ‘n Roller Coster when we went to Disney and his siblings would leave him alone all summer about not riding the wooden roller coaster. This worked so well because he was happy they left him alone and they were happy because they all knew Rock ‘n Roller Coaster went upside-down!

His first ride of the day, but not his last one!!

My youngest son didn’t find out it went upside-down until we were walking by it going to ride Tower of Terror on that next trip. He held up his end of the bargain and it wound up being one of his favorite rides ever! He still enjoys Rock ‘n Roller Coaster and he enjoys other roasters because he was brave enough to try this one!

Character Dining

I love doing character dining! I enjoy it because the kids enjoy it so much and I enjoy it just because it’s fun and the interaction is amazing

Character dining is a little more socially distanced at the present time compared to the picture below, but it’s still a great experience! Our factor character dining is Disney’s Hollywood Studios is Hollywood and Vine!

Early Morning Hours

If you stay on property, then use that extra thirty minutes in the park each morning! There are often very long lines at Disney’s Hollywood Studios because it is the smallest park, so there are fewer rides and attractions. Plus, it’s one of the most popular parks at this time due to the amazing attractions it has.

For these reasons, it’s very important to take advantage of the early morning hours for Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

These pictures are from when I entered the park at 8:15am

Disney’s Hollywood Studios opened at 9 am and rides opened at 8:30 am for Disney resort guests.

This is what the park looked like at regular park opening

By the time I took the pictures below, I had eaten breakfast from Joffrey’s, ridden Rock ‘n Roller Coaster, ridden Tower of Terror, and pin traded at three locations. Then I was walking out of the park at 9:04 am! (Seriously! I had a flight to catch!)

BONUS: Save a little money

You can save a little money on Disney Park tickets by using Undercover Tourist to purchase your tickets! Undercover Tourist is the only non-Disney place I have ever been comfortable buying tickets. My husband and I have annual passes, but this is where we get tickets for our friends and kids when they go with us. The last time I used Undercover Tourist we got six-day tickets for less than what we would have paid for five-day tickets through Disney’s website.
