My family and I have had the opportunity to stay at several of the different resorts at Walt Disney World. We have been able to stay at Movies, Music, and Sports, Art of Animation, and Pop Century, as well as several of the deluxe resorts. Disney’s Boardwalk Resort is one of my favorites due to its proximity to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPOCT and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge because of its uniqueness and beauty. I can’t forget about Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, we enjoy that one too!
Additionally, my husband and I are Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members and our home resorts are Disney’s Wilderness Lodge Resort and Disney’s Old Key West Resort. Both of those resorts are unique in their own way and have many advantages. Disney’s Old Key West Resort is a vast and relaxing resort much like Disney’s Saratoga Springs. However, Old Key West has a completely different atmosphere.
Read on to learn about some of the best aspects of Disney’s Old Key West Resort!
Welcome
Welcome to Disney’s Old Key West Resort!!
Whether you arrive by local transportation or your own vehicle, here is what you get to see first! The picture below shows where you will arrive when you get to the resort.
You can walk through this open area toward the lobby to check into your room. You can also leave your baggage just to the right at Bell Services and enjoy your time elsewhere while you wait for your room to be ready.
Old Key West’s lobby has been newly updated! Cast Members are there ready to help get you checked in, if you have not done so through My Disney Experience, and to help with any questions you may have.
The lobby also has a nice area to sit and relax. Pre-COVID, this is the area where they began their special Conch Flats tour! I’m not sure it has returned at the present time, but I’m hoping it will soon!
The Grounds
Like Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa, the grounds at Old Key West are vast. They are beautifully decorated with a tropical feel and offer areas to great walking. (My husband and I enjoy walking, so this is a bonus for us!)
They have one quick-service restaurant at the resort. There is no indoor seating area, but there is plenty of outdoor seating space near the restaurant!
There is also a sit-down restaurant at the resort, Olivia’s. We have not had the opportunity to eat there yet, but they have a great menu, as well as both indoor and outdoor seating.
Both restaurants are close together and near the lobby area.
In addition to the restaurants being in close proximity, the boat dock is in the same area. You can even see some of the outdoor seating options for the quick-service restaurant in the picture below.
The boat that goes to and from this dock takes you to and from Disney Springs. It’s a very nice boat ride. I’ve only had the chance to do it at night though. Hopefully, one day I can do it when it’s still light outside!
Studio
There are several different types of rooms available at Disney’s Old Key West Resort. They have three-bedroom, two-bedroom, one-bedroom, and studio options.
The pictures below show what the studio rooms look like!
There are two queen-size beds in the studio rooms. Not all of the hotels have two queen beds in their studio rooms. Some of the resort studio rooms have two doubles and some have one queen and a sleeper sofa. However, all studio rooms at Old Key West have two queen beds in them.
The studio rooms at Old Key West are a bit more spacious than some of the other resort rooms. There is a small table in the room and a couple of chairs and plenty of floor space to let the kiddos play.
This particular studio room is connected to our one-bedroom (making it into a two-bedroom lock-off). The door to the left in the picture above shows the connection to the other room.
Just to the left and out of the picture above is the door to the patio or balcony. Our particular room had a patio, as you can see in the picture below.
The patios are definitely a nice touch! I like how they are not open, like at Saratoga Springs, so we can let our grandchildren go out and look around and know they are safe!
There is also a kitchenette in the room. There is a small refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, and coffee supplies, as well as paper plates and plastic utensils.
This studio room has a full bathtub and shower.
One Bedroom
The one-bedroom rooms consist of a separate bedroom with a living room and full kitchen. The one-bedroom easily converts to a two-bedroom lock-off by opening the door between the one-bedroom and a studio room.
When we stayed at Old Key West last, this is what we had. We had the two-bedroom lock-off so that our older daughter and two grandchildren could have their own space and we could have ours while we were still all together!
So, now let’s check out that one-bedroom villa!
Living Room/Kitchen
The living room and kitchen area are in one large room.
There is a sleeper sofa and two over-sized chairs. One of the over-sized chairs is a sleeper chair and converts into a twin-size bed.
I was honestly surprised by how comfortable the sleeper chair was. I laid in it a couple of evenings while we watched movies in the living room.
The television was placed inside the bar, facing the sofa. It was a good use of space!
I liked having the extra counter and cabinet space next to the patio doors and kitchen table. That’s where we kept our snacks! They were easy to access that way!
The kitchen was plenty big enough to fix breakfast and eat. We didn’t fix any other meals in the room, but there was plenty of space, pots, pans, etc… to make other meals.
Porch
Some rooms have porches and others have balconies. Ours had a porch since we were on the first floor.
I liked this porch better than the one at Saratoga Springs because it is enclosed. The ones at Saratoga are open. As you can see in the picture, I enjoy decorating the porches/balconies. During this trip, we went at Christmas time so I had a few simple Christmas decorations up!
Entry
Off to the right of this picture is where the lock-off section is located. The lock-off section (a studio room) turns this one-bedroom into a two-bedroom.
Off to the left of the picture is the laundry room and then the master bedroom and bath.
The laundry room houses the washer, dryer, broom, and other cleaning necessities.
Master Bedroom
The master bedroom was huge. There was plenty of space for all of our belongings and a lot of room to spare.
It was nice that we each had a bedside table to keep belongings in and on.
There is a door to the porch area from the kitchen, as well as from the master bedroom.
The picture below shows where the master bathroom is connected to the master bedroom.
Master Bathroom
Like the master bedroom, the master bathroom was huge and actually consisted of two rooms. One room housed the jetted bathtub and a full sink.
The second room held the shower, toilet, and another full sink.
I was amazed by how much space there was! The closet in the bathroom had plenty of room for everything we brought with us, plus there was an additional closet in the entryway.
Community Hall
In addition to all of the other activities and attractions at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, there is the Community Hall.
I’m a big fan of the Community Halls at the Deluxe resorts on property. They always have many activities for adults and kids alike.
There are several free activities, such as coloring, pin trading, DVD rental, in addition to the free nightly movies offered. Plus, the Community Hall is where you can borrow sports equipment to use on the property, such as ping pong paddles and balls.
There are also several paid activities available. For example, they have crafts, painting, surry bike rentals, and more!
Like I said earlier, there are so many resorts on Disney property that we truly enjoy! I like the variety of resort/hotel options that are available and all of the activities they have on property!
I always suggest that everyone takes time to explore what each of the resorts has to offer. There seem to be endless activities and adventures to be had by all!

I’ve not heard of this Disney resort but I LOVE it! The suites are so spacious. I would make great use of the full kitchen.
It’s a really nice resort. It is Disney-themed like the others, but it’s not as grandiose as some of the other resorts.
Now that my kids are older, we enjoy staying in the resorts with a more relaxed feel. This looks beautiful!
Our adult kids and teens enjoy the resort as much as we do!
Lovely property! Disney always does it all so wonderfully!
I completely agree!
It looks like you can’t go wrong with Disney Resorts.
I agree! There are all amazing and unique!
Disney does everything so wonderfully. I love staying on-site!
I do too! I have so many resorts that I enjoy! They definitely do resorts well!
This looks really wonderful and interesting!
It is a very nice resort! It’s also one of the larger ones (room-space wise) on property!
I can’t wait to go and stay at a place like this! We typically do the budget ones but my husband wants to live it up for a birthday trip soon ☺️
We have only been able to afford it since we started doing Disney Vacation Club (DVC). We usually pay about what we would pay at the value resorts for the deluxe resorts using our DVC points. It may be worth checking into for you, at least renting DVC points!
I would love to stay at this location. The rooms are so spacious yet cozy. The grounds are fabulous and I love that they have porches and balconies to relax early in the morning and evenings. Adding this to my list of places I must visit. Great review.
I have really gotten spoiled with the balconies! I love to have breakfast and read in the mornings when the teens are still sleeping!
This looks like an amazing place to stay! This is exactly the type of resort that I would look at booking when I travel.
We really enjoy staying there! It’s spacious and peaceful!
I’d love to stay here, and I especially love that it has a washer and dryer. The resort looks very charming. The boat ride to Disney Springs sounds interesting too.
I love having the washer and dryer on vacation! I like not having to worry if I have enough clothes or if something gets dirty. One bonus at the Disney Resorts is that there is a washer and dryer nearby, even if it’s not in the room!
I haven’t been to Disney World yet, but there’s so much to see we’re trying to figure out where we’d go. Disney’s Old Key West looks like a relaxing way to experience Disney. And the grounds look so beautiful and calming with the tropical vibe.
There are so many resorts to choose from. There are budget-friendly resorts to choose from, as well as ones that are located very close to the parks. It’s all about figuring out what you want and how you want to vacation!
Disney sure knows hospitality! It looks like they thought of just about everything to include in a room for a vacation. It sure looks a beautiful place to stay on vacation.
It really is a great place to stay and has just about anything you could possibly need on vacation!
