I have always been a fan of Robert Ripley and Ripley’s Believe It or Not museums! They have such fun and unique facts! Plus, the museums are a great way to spend an afternoon on vacation!
Curious Creatures is the most recent Ripley’s oddity museum I’ve been able to visit.
Where can you find Curious Creatures?
You will find the Ripley’s Curious Creatures exhibit at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, Tennessee! The aquarium is one of the many fun activities to do throughout the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee!
Who or what is Ripley??
Ripley’s museums and aquariums are available for us due to the travels and adventures of Robert Ripley!!
Robert Ripley started out as a cartoonist drawing sports cartoons. Later, he came up with a list of extraordinary sports feats and added these to his cartoons. This began Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
Robert Ripley traveled the world before it was easy to travel such agreat distances!
He began traveling in the 1930s and sought out unique people, events, talents, and circumstances. He collected many items throughout his travels, which later became part of the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museums.
Robert Ripley traveled the world to discover what others had never seen or heard of before! He went looking for the odd and strange and he definitely found it!

Not only did Robert Ripley observe what was going on in the world around him, he participated in those events! He got to know individuals in tribes from countries most people had never heard of and he was in close contact with various animals!
This is one of my favorites! The Figi “Mermaid”!
Robert Ripley went after facts, not fiction.
Through his adventures and travels he found out that fact is often more odd and unique than fiction ever could be!

There was an exhibit with a very large snake that was set up for the perfect photo op!!
