My husband and I originally booked our cruise on Carnival’s Magic in 2019 to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday in September of 2020. Needless to say, that cruise was canceled, as well as the cruise we booked after that. However, we were thankful when cruising reopened and we were finally able to take that cruise that had been booked and rebooked!
We had been on the Carnival Magic in the past and it just happened that the same ship was heading to new locations that we were looking at visiting. It was a beautiful ship that offered a wide variety of activities for kids and adults!
The picture below shows the deck plan for the Carnival Magic and was our guide to fun!
Here are some of the many activities that Carnival offers on the Carnival Magic. However, they offer similar activities on most of their ships. These are the activities you need to try and don’t want to miss!
Don’t miss these amazing onboad activities!
Pools
There are several pools on the ship, as well as other water activities.
The Tides Pool and Bar are located at the back of the ship, directly behind the buffet area. It was a quieter pool area of mostly adults.
The Main Pool (or “Beach Pool”) is located mid-ship. This pool is in the area where all of the deck activities are located, such as movies and deck parties. This area also has the most deck chairs in one location, with three of the activities levels surrounding this area.
In addition to pools, there were hot tubs placed in several locations around the ship! This hot tub was located on the level five deck area, near food, drinks (alcohol, coffee, shakes, etc…), and the casino. Several other hot tubs were located in other areas, such as other deck areas, the Tides Pool area, and the adults-only area.
Carnival Water Works
In addition to pools and hot tubs, the Carnival Magic has a water park area! There are two enclosed slides, as well as a splash park that is fun for all ages!
This is a great place for kids, teens, and adults to enjoy!
Deck Parties
It’s a cruise ship, so deck parties are a must! There were several deck parties throughout the entire cruise. The Sail Away Party was the first party when we were leaving the US port. The other evening deck parties included an 80s themed party one night and a 90s themed party on another night!
It was great to see so many people involved and joining in on the fun!
Movies by the Pool
Not only are the deck parties at the main pool, so are the movies! They offered several different movies throughout the entire cruise, including one early evening movie and one later evening movie.
We enjoyed seeing the Marvel movie they showed!
Broadway-Style Shows
Most evenings on the ship included one Broadway-style show that had two performances. There were two performances so that you were able to see the show no matter what time you chose to eat dinner.
There were a variety of shows during our vacation, including a piano bar show, rock and roll show, and country show! We enjoyed some shows more than others. However, I’m glad we had the opportunity to experience such entertainment!
Comedy Club
The Punchliner Comedy Club offers both family-friendly and adult-only shows! This was my personal favorite evening activity on the boat. I enjoy comedy shows and there are no comedy clubs near where we live, so I look forward to these shows on the cruise ship!
I also like the idea that they offer both family-friendly and adult-only comedy shows. This has allowed us to share these fun shows with our kids and also see a wider variety of comedy later in the evening!
Bars
There seems to be no end to the amount and type of bars on the ship! Themed bars. Casino bars. Pool bars. So Many Bars…
Each bar has its own menu, but many offer the same drink options. They have your typical hard liquors, beer, and fruity beachy drinks. The fruity beachy drinks are definitely my favorite!
Piano Bar
As I mentioned above, there are quite a variety of bars on the ship. However, the Piano Bar is SO MUCH MORE than your average bar!
It may not look like much in the picture below. However, it was packed to the point people are standing in the doorway and looking in through the open window areas to watch and listen to the music.
I never in my life thought I would enjoy a piano bar, but the musician was beyond amazing in musical and vocal talent! He played what you would think of as typical piano bar music, as well as more contemporary songs!
Arcade
Variety video games and arcade games were located in The Warehouse! This was not a free arcade, of course. However, it always seemed to be filled with teens enjoying themselves!
Casino
I’m not a gambler, but the casino always seemed to be a busy place. We had to walk through to get to certain areas of the ship and even grabbed a drink or two from time to time. Though, I didn’t do any gambling. I’m not lucky enough to spend money on that!
Adult Only Areas
Our most recent cruise was the first cruise where we did not have any kids or grandkids with us. Because of this, we took advantage of the adults-only areas on the ship. The adults-only area was located at the top level of the ship and had a few separated areas to keep things a little quieter. There was one bar, one hot tub, and various seating options including lounge chairs, clamshells, and areas where you can lie down and enjoy the weather with your significant other!
I enjoyed reading a book with a drink on the table next to me!
Bonus
There is even more fun off the ship! There are places to visit at each port of call. You can wander around the port area or take excursions to swim, snorkel, relax, zipline, and more!
Don’t miss some of our favorite Carnival ports of call!
