The following books are some of my favorites! They are books I recommend for my children and grandchildren, friends, and other family members, as well as for my patients at my brick-and-mortar psychology practice, Luzio & Associates Behavioral Services in Indiana.

Some of the book suggestions are best for certain age groups and others are good for all age groups. Amazing Role Models for Our Kids!
Volume One of Goodnight Rebel Girls is the original book! This book has fantastic short stories focusing on the true-life stories of famous and important women around the world. It is a great book for girls to show them that anything is possible in life! (I bought this book for my granddaughters when they were very young because they make perfect bedtime stories!)

This is a great book that focuses on easy steps to make parenting less stressful and have a more enjoyable time with your children! This book is full of tips and tricks that really work to improve family life and allow parents to discipline less and children to be more responsive to parent requests.
The Whole Brain Child has great information for helping parents understand their children and how children’s brains work! Great information for having a better understanding of how to communicate with and relate to your child in a way they can best understand!
Amazon FreeTime Unlimited Free TrialBrain Storm is a great book to follow The Whole Brain Child! The same author writes both books and both of these books focus on understanding your child better! The main difference is The Whole Brain Child focuses on children and Brain Storm focuses on adolescents. Both are very beneficial to better relating to and understanding your child and your child’s needs.
1, 2, 3 Magic is a great book to help with parenting and child discipline skills! It is the perfect book for all parents–those struggling and those dealing with typical child behavior issues.
Anxiety Management Skills
Overcoming Anxiety for Dummies is definitely not for dummies! It’s another book in the Dummies series with helpful ideas and an understanding of common struggles. It’s a great book with fantastic tips and tricks for better managing anxiety!
The Worry Cure is a great book for learning additional coping skills for anxiety and worry. Part of the book helps you further understand where your biggest worries are and then gives you direct steps to help lessen these issues. It’s a must-read for anyone with anxiety!!
Thriving with Social Anxiety focuses on social anxiety, but the information in this book can be used to help better manage most anxious symptoms! This is a great easy-to-read and user-friendly book to help you decrease your anxiety.
Ways to Reduce and Better Manage Depressive Symptoms
Depression for Dummies is one of the many, many books in the Dummies series. It is a great book to gain a better understanding of depression while learning some techniques to better depressive symptoms.
Helping Your Teenager Beat Depression is a great book for parents to read! There are wonderful tips and tricks for how to help your adolescent better manage depressive symptoms and many of these strategies work for helping adults as well!
Puberty and Growing Up
What’s Happening To My Body Book for Girls is the perfect book for explaining maturing, growing, and changing bodies to pre-teen and teen girls. It gives good, factual information with realistic (not pornographic) pictures to help your child understand their changing body and the changing bodies of the opposite sex.

Stephen Covey’s Seven Habits of Highly Effective Families is a great book to help families build stronger relationships! Stephen Covey has several Seven Habits books, but this one focuses on making family life easier! It focuses on how to have win-win situations, understand others, and much, much more!
Making Good Choices and Adulting
Needless to say, the most appropriate book under the Making Good Choices and Adulting section would have to be the book Adulting!
Adulting is a fantastic book that gives tips on a wide variety of topics. There are over 500 tidbits of information about pretty much any topic you can think of when it comes to a young adult learning to survive on his or her own. From why to water your place to how to cook a chicken breast, this book answers several of the questions that young adults never even considered asking!
I Thought It Was Just Me but it isn’t gives a great perspective on growing up and making good choices! It’s a great book for young adults (late teens/early twenties) who are beginning life on their own and away from their parents.
