My husband and I have played with the idea of owning vacation property for well over ten years. However, we have seven kids, so it was definitely not an option at that time.
When our youngest graduated high school this past May, we revisited the idea of purchasing vacation property. We explored options in Florida (since we visit Florida severe times a year) and Gatlinburg (since we enjoy this area as well).
Well, Gatlinburg won! Meet our home away from home our Mountainside Hideaway!
The Views
One of the many reasons that most people visit Gatlinburg is to enjoy the amazing views! And one of the things that drew us to this cabin was the amazing view from the covered porch!
The views are fantastic and the covered porch is such an amazing bonus! It allows us to enjoy the view and the weather outside without the sun beating down on us the entire time.
The views are utterly amazing! It’s so very quiet and peaceful. I really enjoy the porch area!
The seating is perfect and there is even kid-size seating!
Living Room
There is a lot of open space for the living room, kitchen, and dining area. The room has a cathedral ceiling with enormous windows to allow the natural light inside!
The television has Peacock TV and you can use your own streaming services, so just bring your passwords! And, of course, there is free wifi.
The living room also has a sleeper sofa, television, and electric fireplace.
Here’s a view from the loft area looking down on the living room and kitchen areas. I love the wide-open area and the enormous windows!
Kitchen
Next, let’s get a better look at the kitchen and dining area!
The views from the dining table are utterly amazing!
All of the basics are included in the kitchen. We have dishes, silverware, cooking pots and pans, cooking utensils, a crockpot, kitchen towels, and more!
The hallway in the picture above leads to both bedrooms, with one on the left side and one on the right.
Bedroom #1
The bedroom on the right has a king bed and jacuzzi tub. This is a spacious bedroom with plenty of room to relax.
The jacuzzi tub is tucked away in the corner of the bedroom and a perfect place to enjoy a little quiet time.
Bedroom #2
The bedroom on the left has a queen bed. It’s a cozy bedroom that is located next to the full bathroom.
Both bedrooms have flat-screen televisions.
Full Bath
There is one full bathroom with a combo tub and shower.
All bathroom necessities are included: clean towels, washcloths, toilet paper, soap, and shampoo.
Loft
Our game room is located in the loft area!
The cabin offers a pool table, foosball table, checkers, and various board games and movies.
A mini-fridge and a small sink are also located upstairs.
There is a second sleeper sofa located upstairs!
The half bath is located in the second-floor loft.
Other Important Info
There is a washer and dryer on the property.
And, of course, there’s a hot tub! No Gatlinburg cabin would be complete without one!
We have plans to add several things to our Mountainside Hideaway in the next couple of years and I will definitely add the updates here! At this point, our goals for the future are to add:
- Two additional kid sleeping spaces in the loft
- Firepit area in the back with chairs
- And…who knows what else!
