Traveling with kiddos is a great way for them to learn new things and have new experiences! However, long road trips with young kiddos can be quite stressful.
Since my children were babies, I decided I wanted to give them well-rounded experiences through traveling. They have experienced the ocean, beaches, mountaintops, and valleys. However, they are mostly accustomed to flying.
So, when we embarked on a 6-hour road trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, they were less than thrilled, to say the least.
Our Scavenger Hunt
To save my sanity and to keep them entertained, I created the Road Trip Scavenger Hunt!
To my surprise, this kept my kiddos occupied for OVER AN HOUR in the car. We sat through traffic and continued our road trip without a tantrum or complaint of wanting to get out of their car seat thanks to this activity.
Not only were they able to find the items on their list, but they were able to color the item too! The scavenger hunt helped with object identification, being aware of our surroundings, and fine motor skills. Plus, this was a completely screen-free activity!
The activity only requires the scavenger hunt sheet, coloring utensils of choice (we chose crayons), and a clipboard! This road trip scavenger is great for short or long road trips. Next time you’re wanting a screen-free way to entertain your kiddos, try this!
